Since the 1970’s, the Moundville Park and Recreation Authority (PARA) has provided its youth with organized sports opportunities. Prior to PARA, community athletics were organized by the Moundville Little League Association.

Moundville PARA currently offers baseball for ages 4-14, youth football for ages 6 to 12, a girl’s softball team for ages 4-14 and youth cheerleading for ages 6-12. Teams are coached by community members and parents. Emphasis is placed on sportsmanship, athletic development, and the importance of team play.

Moundville PARA is governed by a volunteer board. This board is responsible for the management, maintenance, and operation of a sports complex consisting of 4 baseball/softball fields, 2 batting cages, and a concession pavilion. Youth football events are held at Howell Field, a complex shared by Hale County High School and PARA. Both sports complexes are located on Highway 69 South in Moundville.
