Moundville
Senior
Program
The Senior program is offered to senior citizens for nutrition and social activities. Our senior program offers all people that are 60 years and older a well-balanced meal weekdays at 11:00 a.m. We ask that anyone eating the lunch meal please make a donation of whatever they can afford. We also offer meal delivery to home bound senior citizens.
Activities at the Moundville Senior Program include card games, bingo, visits to the nursing home, shopping trips, and trips to the movies. We also have special guests that offer information important to our seniors, such as hospice, home health, and community organizations. These special guests provide vital information to senior citizens as well as games and activities. University of Alabama’s Senior Law Clinic provides free legal services to seniors at the community center as well.
The senior program provides nutrition education monthly so we can help our seniors live a healthy, fulfilled life. The MCAC Director is a certified Diabetes Counselor and can assist with the nutritional needs of diabetics. We will help with applying for assistance with farmer’s market vouchers, West Alabama Food Bank assistance, utility assistance with outside organizations, and Medicare counseling. We can also provide transportation to the senior program.
